Our Staff
The staff at BFA are extraordinarily dedicated to our students and our mission. As part of our commitment to keeping school fees low for the families of Christian field workers, our staff raise the funds they need to live and work in Germany. This means that by the time a staff member arrives, they have already spent months or years actively preparing to serve at BFA: joining a Christian sending agency, developing a prayer support network, sharing with interested churches and individuals about their work and BFA’s mission, and raising the funds needed to serve here.
The result is a staff team with both professional competence and a level of commitment and dedication that is impossible to explain outside of God’s calling to serve at BFA.
Our Location
We are located in the rolling hills of the southwestern edge of Germany in the Black Forest.
Our campus and boarding homes are all located in the small and picturesque town of Kandern. The area is surrounded by forests, valleys, small villages, and is within 20km of both Switzerland and France.

Our History
BFA began in 1956 as a small one-room school for just six children of missionaries in post-war Europe. Founded by the Janz family, the school steadily grew, moving locations between Switzerland and Germany before eventually settling in Kandern. Over time, it expanded its programs, developed a strong boarding community, and introduced its own curriculum to better serve an international student body.
