HOW IT WORKS
Curious about working at BFA? You’ve come to the right place!
We’re serious when we say we do things differently.
Our staff raise 100% of their own funding which helps keep our tuition rates low. We exist to partner with and support global Christian workers and their families through affordable education, and that influences everything we do.
Our incoming staff for a school year arrive in August, and we recommend beginning the application process at least 8-10 months before then to allow time for paperwork, support raising, and transition. That said, God’s timeline is different (and better) than ours and we invite inquiries at any time.
The best first step is to set up a call with our Mobilization Team. Moving overseas is a big commitment, and this informal call is designed to answer any questions you have about working at BFA and living here. We will help you navigate current and future openings and provide guidance on next steps.
The next step is to submit an inquiry for a specific role.
Due to German government regulations, we are only able to grant work visas to the following passport holders: USA, Canada, EU, UK, South Korea, Japan, Israel, New Zealand, and Australia.
FULL APPLICATION
After we review your initial inquiry, we will invite you to fill out our full application which includes longer questions and references. From there we will set up interviews with department supervisors.
This is also the time to submit admissions inquiries if you have school-age children.
AGENCY APPLICATION
Along with your BFA application, you also need to apply to a sending agency. This can be done either at the same time or before you apply to BFA. We have standing agreements with many agencies which can simplify the process, but we’re also open to partnering with new ones.
Agencies play an important role in your time at BFA as they’re the ones that process your financial support, benefits, and provide additional oversight while on the field.
DECISION
Once you’re approved by a sending agency, our School Leadership Team will make a final decision. In the months leading up to your arrival in August, we will be in regular contact with you about logistical items like housing, visas, and onboarding that will help with your transition and begin to feel at home here.
SUPPORT RAISING
This is often the longest and most transformational part of coming on staff at BFA. Through your sending agency, you are responsible for raising 100% of your funds to live here through churches, individuals, and organizations. While it is not “easy,” it is also life-giving and an exercise in seeing God provide for the path He has called you to walk.
To God be the glory, and we’ll see you in August.
