A Few Falcon Reflections:
We asked several of our student-athletes to reflect on what it means to compete as a BFA Falcon. Their responses are not only a testament of the quality of the programs and coaching here at BFA, but also of the work that Christ is doing through BFA athletics in students’ lives.
Madi – Class of 2025
Playing basketball at BFA for all four years of high school has shaped me physically, spiritually, and mentally. Each season has reminded me to play for God’s glory, a lesson I now apply to my everyday life. The competitive moments are exciting, but the relationships built with teammates and coaches are what make BFA sports truly special—we become like family.
I’ve been pushed to grow, challenged to work hard, and encouraged to strengthen my character through every practice and game. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities BFA Athletics has given me and for the community that has shaped me along the way.

Xofia – Class of 2025
Being an athlete at BFA has taught me that sports are about far more than competition or talent. Coming from a country where winning and performance were everything, I learned at BFA that representing Christ, loving my teammates, and honoring opponents is what truly matters. Here, I discovered a deeper love for volleyball and a genuine sense of community within my team. I am especially grateful for coaches who continually point us toward Christ. Coach McKell has been more than a coach to me—she has shaped me as a leader and as a person.
My years playing volleyball at BFA have been the best of my life, and I’m thankful to be part of a program known across Europe for its sportsmanship and its commitment to putting God first.
Caleb – Class of 2025
To me, BFA Athletics means pushing myself physically for the glory of God. Sports at BFA give me the chance to represent the Lord while using the gifts He has given me. My faith has deepened through competition as I’ve learned to trust God with every outcome, gathering my relay team to pray before races and intentionally giving Him the glory in all we do.
Being a Falcon means being part of something bigger than myself. It is an opportunity to spread the love of Jesus through sports and to show others who we play for.

“I’ve learned that playing “For Him” matters more than anything and that joy is an essential part of competing.”
Eli – Class of 2026
For me, BFA athletics is a form of worship. Sports give me a way to practice and develop the talents God has entrusted to me so I can give the glory back to Him. The physical challenges have pushed me to run faster and further than I ever thought possible, while also teaching me humility as I recognize my limits. Through athletics, I’ve learned that my strength comes from God and that competing is another way to honor Him with everything I have.

Esther – Class of 2027
Athletics have always been an important part of my life, and they were a major reason I came to BFA. After arriving, I quickly found myself surrounded by a supportive community of teammates and coaches who continually encouraged me and pushed me to grow. Whether in volleyball, basketball, or soccer, I have seen Christ reflected in the people around me and in the way we approach each game and practice.
I’ve learned that playing for Him matters more than anything and that joy is an essential part of competing. BFA Athletics means so much to me, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of it.
Nya – Class of 2027
Being a BFA Falcon has been an incredible experience that is hard to fully express. To me, BFA Athletics means being part of a team that loves, encourages, and challenges you—not just as an athlete but as a person. I tried several sports for the first time, I was intimidated, but the moment I stepped onto the field and court, I was welcomed like family. That sense of belonging continues to impact my daily life.
BFA sports strengthened me physically and spiritually. Through many challenges, God taught me humility, perseverance, and trust in His strength. I’ve seen firsthand how He uses sports to open doors for ministry and build community.
